Solar Energy Nears ‘Grid Parity’.

Solar Energy Nears ‘Grid Parity’.

Grid parity means that the cost of solar energy is equal to the cost of ‘conventional’ energy, often produced from coal or gas.  And solar is clean and green … no pollution and hidden costs to worry about in the future.

Is this Good News … yes, it’s very good news.

For so long now vested interests have pushed the story that solar was not economically viable, and even now, while China and India both surge ahead with production of clean energy there is powerful lobbying going on pushing a line that ‘subsidies’ are being given to Chinas solar energy industry.

Enormous subsidies have and continue to be given to the oil and gas industries, the coal industry all of whom are primarily responsible for the catastrophic pollution and global warming challenges that our children and their children must contend with.

Besides all that I recall a “Healthy Homes Show” in country Victoria, Australia during the late 1990’s which was entirely powered by BP Solar, and at which I listened to an English professor who had been building passive solar homes in the UK for some thirty years, very successfully. He used photovoltaic cells back then to provide electricity … in the UK.

I feel that more people could learn a lot from Buckminster Fuller’s simple comment beck in the mid 1900’s … “There is no energy crisis, there is a crisis of ignorance.”

The same statement applied to most of our resources when you stop and think about it.

About Alex Sprunt

Twenty years ago I participated in a game that changed my life. Called "The Barnyard Game" it threw groups of intelligent people into fierce competition for the chance to 'access the Ocean of Abundance' and the "Ocean only wants to OUTFLOW ... so come with a spoon, a cup, bucket or pipe it in, the Ocean doesn't care". The game was noisy, loud, had physical barriers and it was played hard. Then all of a sudden a realisation was made that swept through the game in an instant. "There is no need to compete ... the Ocean is abundant and wants everyone to enjoy her abundance." For forty years or more we have been living at a time when everyone on earth could be living the lifestyle of billionaires. Technology and a cooperation revolution makes this available and the way forward is to elevate everyone up above the level of the "1%" rather than try and pull the 1% down to a low level. We are all living in exciting times ...
